Seanchai Dun Scented Reed Diffuser
The world's most beautiful shelter for a story. In Irish, the seanchaí (pronounced Shannakey) is the storyteller, keeper of the old tales, and a dún is a stronghold; Seanchaí Dún is the place where stories are kept safe.
In the old houses they watched for the purple flame in the hearth, the sign that a stranger was on the road or the good people were near, and that was when the story began. Rathborne's kept that flame in the fig-dark glass. Green fig leaf and a touch of cardamom over soft, worn leather, settling into sandalwood, amber and a whisper of smoked tea. Light it, let the flame settle, and shut the door on the world. The story has its proper home.
All handcrafted and hand-poured over two days in our Dublin workshop using time-honoured techniques perfected by our artisans since 1488.

Dún an Seanchaí (The Shelter of the Storyteller)
Seanchaí Dún is the shelter the story is told in; the room with the books, the door closed against the weather, the considered hour when nothing else is asked of you. Green fig lifts first, before leather, oud and smoked tea settle in with the weight of bound paper and old shelves.
This is a scent that speaks of safe keeping, and of a story given its proper home.
Lasts for up to 16 weeks. 200Ml.
