Two-Wick Candle, 40 Hour Burn Time, 190g
The world's most beautiful shelter for a story. In Irish, the seanchaí (pronounced Shannakey) is the storyteller, keeper of the old tales, and a dún is a stronghold; Seanchaí Dún is the place where stories are kept safe.
In the old houses they watched for the purple flame in the hearth, the sign that a stranger was on the road or the good people were near, and that was when the story began. We've kept that flame in the fig-dark glass. Green fig leaf and a touch of cardamom over soft, worn leather, settling into sandalwood, amber and a whisper of smoked tea. Light it, let the flame settle, and shut the door on the world. The story has its proper home.
All handcrafted and hand-poured over two days in Rathborne's Dublin workshop using time-honoured techniques perfected by our artisans since 1488.
Olfactory Notes:

Dún: In Irish, Dún (pronounced roughly "doon", with the fada lengthening the vowel) is one of the oldest and most widespread words in Irish. Its core meaning is a fort or stronghold; a place of shelter and safe keeping.
Dún Laoghaire is "Laoghaire's fort", Dún na nGall (Donegal) is "fort of the foreigners", Dundalk comes from Dún Dealgan, "Dealga's fort", and Dún Aonghasa on Inis Mór is the great stone fort of Aonghas.
